International Students Visit EDGE to Explore Entrepreneurship at Sheridan

On August 4, EDGE, Sheridan’s Entrepreneurship Hub, hosted 20 high school students from Taiwan, in Grades 11 and 12, during their visit to Hazel McCallion Campus. The group is sponsored by Taiwan’s Ministry of Education and is at Sheridan for a summer program focused on Apple technology, designed to give students meaningful academic and cultural experiences while showcasing Sheridan’s strengths. Their visit to Sheridan EDGE gave them a firsthand look at Sheridan’s entrepreneurship ecosystem, from the people who support it to the founders building inside it. 

EDGE staff opened the session with an introduction to Sheridan EDGE and the priorities that shape its work: supporting students as they explore ideas, build skills, and take their first steps into entrepreneurship, alongside supporting entrepreneurs across the region and offering a coworking space where small businesses find the resources they need to grow. Students then heard directly from Hassan Naqvi, a Computer Engineering student and founder of CreateMyCircuit, one of many student entrepreneurs who have launched their business through EDGE. Hassan shared his experience with Thrive, EDGE’s entrepreneurship program for students. Hassan spoke candidly about the confidence, mentorship, and support that shaped his path, and answered questions from students curious about what building a venture actually looks like. 
The visit closed with a tour of the coworking space used by Sheridan students, alumni, and local entrepreneurs and small business owners building their ventures. Staff highlighted the range of entrepreneurship programming available to Sheridan students, including direct access to mentors, coaches, and working entrepreneurs. Students got to see how EDGE helps students turn ideas into action.
