In the post-pandemic landscape, entrepreneurs addressing complex social challenges like economic inequality and environmental sustainability faced increased barriers to recovery. In response, Sheridan EDGE expanded its offerings in 2023 by launching a coworking pilot to provide flexible work and collaborative spaces at competitive rates. The pilot was so successful that it exceeded its annual revenue target in just six months. This year, EDGE continues this momentum, already achieving last year’s total revenue by mid-year. Since its launch, EDGE has served 62 members, with 29 active coworking and community members today.
Centred on the principles of placemaking, nurturing, and belonging, EDGE coworking memberships provide holistic support that fosters personal and professional growth and builds a welcoming community where every member feels valued. Ahad Arain, co–founder and CEO of ODE Cloud, notes, “When I first walked into this space, it felt welcoming. I could see myself working there. I was welcomed by others who were already part of the coworking space. It felt like I was already part of this community, and the price point is reasonable.”
Memberships go beyond offering a physical workspace, providing access to a wealth of resources, including learning programs, mentorship, networking opportunities and access to Sheridan’s vibrant innovation community. Coworking members regularly access faculty advisor office hours and employ Sheridan student talent, creating a dynamic, cross-generational learning environment that supports both the growth of their ventures and the professional development of Sheridan students. Through networking events and curated connections, members also access funding opportunities and valuable partnerships that help drive their ventures forward.
EDGE embraces a community-centered approach that fosters collaboration among members, creating an environment where entrepreneurs can learn from one another, share resources, and build partnerships grounded in shared values. For members like Alex Gregory, Sales Lead at DoGood Funding, who has been working out of EDGE Coworking for over a year, this approach has been instrumental. “The EDGE team have been great in providing us with resources and services, including workshops, meetings with funders, and others who have provided us with expert guidance,” he shares. “They’ve helped us find a path to create visible outreach for our services and programs.” These connections empower members to overcome common barriers to growth, such as limited access to resources, networks, and specialized expertise.
EDGE continues to grow its community of values-driven entrepreneurs and professionals dedicated to creating a more equitable and sustainable society. Members include Codefy Labs, TempHo, DoGood Funding, Account Tax Pros, Aloreum, Dragon Fly Events, and professionals from non-profits, IT, and digital marketing sectors. Entrepreneurs who join EDGE Coworking gain more than just office space—they become part of a thriving community focused on positive change, job creation, and tackling society’s critical challenges.
