InnocaS.E Competition: Sheridan Students Solving Real-Word Problems
The InnocaS.E Competition, a joint initiative by the Sheridan’s Student Union (SSU) and EDGE, is more than just a case study challenge—it’s a platform for creativity, problem-solving, and community impact. This competition is unique because it harnesses the problem-solving and creative ability of students and alumni to address pressing social issues. From mental health to climate change, student entrepreneurship to financial challenges, the InnocaS.E Competition invites participants to think critically and propose innovative solutions.
EDGE works to foster social innovation and entrepreneurial skills among students so they can transform their innovative ideas into successful impact ventures. While SSU is dedicated to enhancing the overall student experience to promote personal and professional growth. A shared vision to enhance student experience at Sheridan brought the teams at EDGE and SSU together to create the InnocaS.E Competition.
48 Hours of Creativity and Collaboration
During this intense 48-hour competition, participants have the opportunity to demonstrate their problem-solving abilities. Working individually or in teams of 2 or 3, they’ll brainstorm, ideate, and create groundbreaking solutions.
What’s in it for participants?
Besides the thrill of solving real-world problems, there are tangible rewards. Certificates and prizes ($800 for first place, $550 for runner-up and a $350 award for special categories) are up for grabs. Plus, participants will have a chance to chat with a hiring manager over coffee for job market insights and have a chance to be considered for a co-op/internship position.
Get Involved!
The competition starts on June 21 with a virtual session by SSU and EDGE, where they will introduce the challenge. This will be followed by an afternoon session of solution development, where participants can begin developing their ideas until the final day of submission, June 23. The competition will be held on June 26, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., in room C506 at the Hazel McCallion campus in Mississauga.
