On December 1, Sheridan’s EDGE welcomed Hon. Nina Tangri, Associate Minister of Small Business and MPP Mississauga-Streetsville, for a discussion and tour of their co-working space at the Hazel McCallion Campus (HMC) in Mississauga. Minister Tangri met with the EDGE team and a few founders to discuss the important work EDGE does to spark the creation of new small businesses, social enterprises and non-profits by supporting them with student talent and faculty.
EDGE connects small business owners to a range of support services and resources at Sheridan, including Career Services, the International Office, and the Generator Support Office, as well as mentors and advisors through the Pilon School of Business (PSB). This work showcases the collaborative role that EDGE, with the support of PSB, can play in the larger business community as a pathway into Sheridan’s resources.
Founders in attendance who were able to share their venture stories with Minister Tangri included Rohit Mehta, founder of DoGood Fundraising and Bhairavi Shankar, Ph.D. Shankar, founder of Indus Space Inc.
As an integral part of Generator at Sheridan, EDGE supports changemakers as they explore entrepreneurial approaches to creating a more equitable and sustainable world. In collaboration with partners, EDGE provides new and growing ventures with mentorship, learning programs, co-working space and support to access funding.
