EDGE’s program for young changemakers returns: Social Impact Catalyst powered by RBC Future Launch

Posted on October 21st, 2021

After eighteen months of disruption from the COVID-19 pandemic, many people feel they want to get back to “normal.” But “normal” means continued climate disruption and species extinction, growing inequalities, increased environmental health risks and the possibility of further disease outbreaks.

“Normal” isn’t working for people or the planet.

In August 2021, the Secretary-General of the United Nations declared a “code red for humanity.” If we continue on our current course, the world is on track for three degrees of warming. At that level, temperatures are not livable and food production collapses. In Canada, we face warming at twice the global rate. In the Arctic, it’s three times faster. Every day we see the impacts of global warming with reports of fires, flooding and impacts on farming. The window to act on climate change is closing.

Given this context, EDGE is proud to announce the re-opening of its program Social Impact Catalyst powered by RBC Future Launch to incubate changemaking ideas

Social Impact Catalyst Powered by RBC Future Launch Winter Program 2022: Applications Now Open

The EDGE Social Impact Catalyst powered by RBC Future Launch seeks aspiring youth entrepreneurs in the Peel and Halton regions who have an idea, project or venture that seeks to tackle climate change and environmental sustainability.

This program has been made possible with the generous support of RBC Future Launch, a proud partner of Sheridan and EDGE.

The application deadline is November 5th, 2021.

Are you ready to take action on an idea to build a more green, resilient and sustainable tomorrow?

We’re looking for youth changemakers ages 15-29 who have an idea, project or venture that seeks to create a more equitable, inclusive and just society. Your project should address barriers that impact underrepresented communities like these.

This 14-week program offers exclusive benefits. Participants will join an inclusive virtual community, receive training and expert mentorship, and be eligible for a $2000 honorarium.

“When young people build solutions that are relevant, meaningful, and designed for their communities, they’re more likely to have an impact that ripples across our region and beyond. Thanks to RBC Future Launch, we’ll be able to help more youth — both students and those from our community — explore their own entrepreneurial ideas and solutions.” — Renee Devereaux, Director, Entrepreneurship & Changemaking, EDGE
